Wear at the corners of the dustjacket with a few short tears and nicks around the edges; price intact; no interior markings. The endpapers are illustrated with scenes from the film and included within are sepia plates of more scenes from the film, the 1935 version from Fox, directed by Henry King and starring Rochelle Hudson and Henry Fonda, along with Andy Devine, Spring Byington, Billy Benedict and many others. Because she was so beautiful, he fell in love with her; because she was penniless, he knew his father would never consent to their marriage. So he persuaded her to marry him secretly. And it was not until her child was born that she found she had been the victim of a mock ceremony, that she was dishonoured in the eyes of the world and had to create a new life for herself..
