Rutland, VT: Charles E. Tuttle, 1962. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good to Very Good/Good to Very Good Dust Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. 329 pp. Tightly bound. Corners not bumped, but showing some rounding. Text is free of markings. No ownership markings. Very good dust jacket. Jacket not price clipped but with a crease along the right edge from at one point in time being folded over. Jacket with two 2" closed edge tears. First Edition / First Printing of 1962. Contains 284 illustrations in color and gravure. It appears that 12 are in color. This copy is smyth sewn. Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.
