Published by Clarendon Press, Oxford.� These 'fragments' were thought to have been produced by Jane Austen c.1803-1804 - the date of the watermarks on the original leaves of manuscript - and abandoned by her following the death of her father in 1805. It first came to light in 1871, published, with all errors, in the second edition of Austen-Leigh's Memoir. This edition has lengthy notes at the end, outlining erasures and alterations in the manuscript. Inv. A3
