About This Item
Venice: Peter Koch, Printer, 2006. Morgan, Robert. Small folio. 25ff., + 7 plates. From an edition of fifty copies, this is one of thirty bound in Venetian red stiff wrappers. Signed by the printer, Peter Koch, and photographer Robert Morgan. Produced during Koch's term as artist-in-residence at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica Venezia, Brodsky's text consists of lyrical fragments that offer up a view of the city through the eyes of an exiled Russian poet. Brodsky dedicated the work, first published in 1989, to American painter and Venice resident, Robert Morgan, whose fourteen atmospheric photographs are reproduced here in photogravure. Printed on Twinrocker "Da Vinci" paper featuring a specially designed watermark, the book represents a tightly constructed and very tactile representation of place. A fine copy housed in its original quarter morocco folding case, which shows a little toning to the spine. Prospectus laid in.
