Norwalk, CT: The Heritage Press, 1971. Introduction by Louis S. Auchincloss, illustrated by Lawrence Beall Smith Narrow 4to size red cloth bound hardcover with bright gilt decorations on cover and titles on spine; 204 pages with black and white illustrations - some full page - by Lawrence Beall Smith. Lawrence Beall Smith was a painter, lithographer, illustrator and sculptor. Smith covered World War II as an artist, on assignment to cover the medical corps for Abbott Labs. Both the Army and Naval Museums have Smith's artwork in their collections. Smith died in 1989. His work continues to be exhibited in museums and galleries around the country. Includes original slipcase and copy of The Heritage Club Sandglass - a pamphet which accompanied each title. This four-pager discusses the book, the author, the neighborhood of Washington Square and even which actress appeared in the movie version. The slipcase is sunned at the mouth and there is some light soil to spine. We have several other Heritage Collection volumes listed separately. . Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Synopsis
