New York: Stringer & Townsend, 1851. Second edition, first illustrated edition. With illustrations by the author. 1 vols. 12mo. Rebound in full red morocco, covers a little worn; Harry Worcester Smith's copy with his bookplate on front pastedown and signature at top of pictorial title. In a blue cloth slipcase with inner wrapper containing a pocket holding various ephemera, noted below. Second edition, first illustrated edition. With illustrations by the author. 1 vols. 12mo. The Copy Used to Produce H.W. Smith's Warwick Edition. This copy was used by Harry Worcester Smith to prepare his limited Warwick Valley Edition of The Warwick Woodlands and, according to a note laid in, "was sent back and forth from Worcester to Warwick while the latter edition was being printed ... the pencil blocks with the page numbers in pencil...were made by Miss Florence L. Ketchum of the Warwick Valley Dispatch, Warwick, N.Y."

Also included are three letters to Smith from T. Harry Ward concerning Frank Forester's tribute to the latter's grandfather, Tom Draw, and several articles on Forester clipped from publications.
