About This Item
Charles Scribner's Sons, 1971. Hardcover. Good. Four volumes of 8 volume set include the following books: The Improvised War, 1861-1862; War Becomes Revolution, 1862-1863; The Organized War, 1863-1864; and the Organized War to Victory, 1864-1865. Tall octavo-sized volumes bound in red cloth. From the library of Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Lincoln biographer David Herbert Donald. War Becomes Revolution appears to be a later printing and is in Fine Condition. The other volumes show foxing to dust jackets and edges of book blocks. Donald's address sticker on front panel of one of the jackets; name neatly printed inside another. Single volume shows penciled notes in Donald's hand. Three of the dust jackets are worn and scuffed (please see images). All said, a solid reading and reference set with an interesting provenance.
