Very Good. octavo; pp; (viii), 136, (i); frontispiece portrait and one additional portrait; burgundy cloth, gilt lettered, top edge gilt; very good;. This young man from a prominent Philadelphia family was a graduate of Groton & Harvard, an All-American Quarterback and an American patriot. He joined the Brits early in WWI first as an ambulance driver and later in an armored car battalion. He was killed in action at the Somme. He was also a friend of the Kermit Roosevelt. This copy inscribed, "With compliments, LS".
