This diary was given to Elliott White Springs, who was a friend of the author and had promised to have it published if his friend didn't return from the war. It was originally published serially in "Liberty."

Grider, an American, trained in Britain and was attached to the squadron of the Royal Flying Corps commanded by Major Bishop. "The diary of the author"s service in France is both poignant and exciting. He expected to die, even wanted to die, but was desperately anxious to do well. He did well and he died" - Falls.
