New York: Simon and Schuster / SFBC , 1959. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. USA Simon and Schuster / SFBC hardback edition first printing, "A42" gutter code indicating October 1959. Hardback book is tight clean and square. Boards sharp and clean. Spine ends bumped, title gilt perfect. Text block clean, with toned fore-edge. FEP has two light offset tape marks, presumably from a previous protective cover. Red printers stain to top edge bold. The pages are crisp and unblemished. Feels very tight and gently read. Near fine condition. The jacket has bold colours to the front panel, with very small rubs to the corners. The white rear panel is clean and bright with only a few feint marks. The red spine is slightly sunned, and has wear to the head and rubs to joint ends. Jacket has been clipped to remove the Book Club Edition statement to the foot of the front flap. Jacket grades very good close to near fine. Signed and dedicated by author to first FEP. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. This book is fitted with a non adhesive archival quality book protector to make a worthy addition to your collection. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A very solid book club issue of this van Vogt hardback title.Signed by van Vogt to the first FEP. Possible association copy (no providence to authenticate this) for Fredric Brown: "From A E van Vogt / For Fred Brown / with my good wishes / Van" An uncommon signed van Vogt title.
