About This Item

Pelham Books 1971 1st Edition. Bound in original red cloth with gilt to spine. With dustwrapper. In very good condition with very good dustwrapper (dw; slightly rubbed at edges. Some small marks). Not price clipped. Inside clean and tight. No inscriptions or other marks. 157pp Ralph Wightman was born in the remote Dorset village of Piddletrenthide, where his father was a farmer and butcher. His liking was for the farming side of the business, and he did all the jobs which farm bred boys faced in the days before tractors. A thirteen acre field, which his family farmed for more than a century, is used as a basis for discussing the changes in farming and country life.
