Handling marks to the endpapers and to the front fold over flap. A story set in Texas in 1850, where a slave Nate Wagoner and his family live and work in what appears to be as close to freedom that a black man can have at that time. Things change when a Comanche raid takes his wife and 2 daughters. On the trail of trying to return his family Nate learns just how fragile his 'place' really is. Size: 8vo - over 7Â¾" - 9Â¾" tall.
