Nautical blue cloth boards with a ship impressed on front, dark gold letters on spine. Nautical blue paste downs with silhoette of matching ship in white in center. Deckled side edge. Painted red top edge. Jacket drawing by Lynd Ward. Photo of Garland Roark on back of DJ. PON in ink on title page. Year on title page. Spine straight, binding tight, slight toning. Soiling to exposed edges insided DJ. Outward crease in spine. Edge wear to DJ with tiny nicks and rubs. In mylar. See photos. During the 1860s in the South Pacific, Capt. Ralls, skipper of the Red Witch, has a series of adventures involving sunken gold bulliion, pearls, natives, an unscrupulous ship owner and a giant octopus. Debut as a movie starring John Wayne, Gail Russell, Gig Young, Adele Mara, Byron Barr, and others in 1949 with Director Edward Ludwig.
