A very scarce discussion of water storage and drainage in Egypt under the British Empire, addressed to a Minister of Public Works whom the author feels is misunderstanding the irrigation needs of the area. The work of irrigation engineer Sir William Willcocks, a British civil engineer during the high point of the British Empire who proposed and built the first Aswan Dam, a gravity masonry buttress on the Nile River. This was published three months before Willcocks' death, and, addressed to 'His Excellency The Minister of Public Works', discusses water storage and drainage in Egypt under British colonial rule, in the region of the Wadi El Rayan, a vast area of lakes and sulphur springs.From the library of Frederic Newhouse (1883-1969), sometime inspector-general of Egyptian irrigation in the Sudan, and with his contemporary inscription to the head of the front wraps, dated 1932. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Wraps age toned to perimeters due to paper type, with contemporary inscription to head of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
