Readers Union Limited by arrangement with Oxford University Press, London, 1942. Book Club Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Introduction by author. Tan coloured cloth covered boards with, faded, black and red coloured insert to the back strip and self embossed titles to same. Red coloured tint to the top text block edge. The title basically says it all, the author was stationed in south-west Persia between the years 1907 to the beginning of World War I, 1914. And, as he says in his introduction, page V, " ... It was the centre span of a period of great diplomatic activity which reached a peak, first with the signature of the Anglo-French Agreements of 1904, again with the conclusion of the Anglo-Russian Convention in 1907, and finally in 1914 with the outbreak of war." Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with a little rubbing of the book corners. Sunning to the back strip with age toning and faint foxing to the text block edges. Foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book and light browning of the text block edges. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [4], V - IX, [1] 305 pages,.
