In good condition. 40 pp. *** Second edition; the first appeared earlier in 1848, with 42, [1] pp. It is an impassioned if belated response to A voz do Propheta, a political essay by Alexandre Herculano that was published anonymously in 1837.The author (1806-1877), a native of in Extremoz (in the Alemtejo), was son of General Antonio Tavares Maggessi and himself a captain in the cavalry.*** Cf. Innocêncio I, 190, for the author and for the first edition. Porbase locates one copy each at Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal and Biblioteca João Paulo II-Universidade Católica Portuguesa; five copies of the first edition at Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, and one at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. No edition located in Jisc. KVK (51 databases searched) locates only the copies cited by Porbase.
