Paris: Chez L. Cellot, 1769. First Edition. Full Calf. Very Good-. 503 pp. Hardcover. 16.3cm. 16mo. Contemporary speckled calf, raised bands to spine heavily decorated in gilt with labels for title and volume; all edges stained red, half title present, marbled endpapers. Book Condition: joints cracked with chipping, though both hinges are sound, corners showing wear, spine ends perished at edges, and here and there in small patches; scratch down length of 1st half of spine creating the optical illusion of the book splitting asunder, earthquake style- but that's not happening-the earthquake of the spine that is. Binding very sound, gilt lettering and decorations to spine pale and wan, interior fresh, bright, completely free of foxing. Very Good-.
