Front cover detached, wear to covers and spine. This is the first edition from 1833. There was a second edition in 1834. Based on Captain Benjamin Morrell's 'Narrative of Four Voyages', which was published in 1832. The book covers voyages in the Antarctic, Falkland Islands, South Shetland Islands, Patagonia, Chile, Subantarctic, Valparaiso, Massacre islands (Carteret Islands), etc..

Boston and Newburyport: Russell, Odiorne & Co. / J. G. Tilton, 1833. Some pale browning, but a handsome copy. 16mo (12.5 x 10.5 cm). viii, [1], 10-142, [2] pages. Frontispiece and 16 cuts in text. Publisher's plain brown cloth. FIRST EDITION. A retelling of Morrell's 'Narrative of Four Voyages' for juveniles with moral lessons relating to sealing and bêche-de-mer trading. Captain Benjamin Morrell (1795-1838/9) was an American sea captain, explorer and trader whose many claims of discovery and achievement have been questioned by historians and geographers. It includes tales of his adventures in South America, the Falklands, and several South Pacific islands. There was another issue with the title dated 1834.
