About This Item
MacMillan, New York, 1882. First Edition. Hardcover (Half Cloth). Fair Condition/No Dust Jacket. NORDENSKIOLD, A.E. The Voyage of the Vega Round Asia and Europe, New York: Macmillan, 1882.Quarto, first U.S. edition, pp. xxvi, 756, half black cloth over marbled boards, steel engravings, 10 folding linen maps. Chronicles the first-ever complete crossing of the Northeast Passage in 1879, translated from the Swedish by Alexander Leslie. This copy is sound and complete but only a map collector could love it, because the maps are fine while the rest of the book has numerous flaws, including cracked joints, library markings, pink stains, and tape repairs to text leaves. This is the first USA edition. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos. Category: Exploration; Sweden; 19th century; Antiquarian & Rare. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 52577. .
