Shelf wear, spine slightly sunned, contents clean. An account of the expedition of the Soviet semi-icebreaker, the Chelyuskin, its journey through Arctic waters from Leningrad to the Bering Strait; the cargo vessel crossed the Arctic waters of northern Russia & Siberia, through the Barents Sea, the Kara Sea, the Laptiev Sea, the East Siberian Sea, and was subsequently crushed by massive ice floes in the Choukchi Sea and sank. This is the story of their journey written by the surviving members of the expedition and the 7 airmen who participated in their dramatic rescue; Part 1 - 40 Chapters, with each chapter written by a member of the expedition; Part 2 - 7 Chapters, each chapter written by an airmen who assisted in the rescue.
