[Illinois]: Toilers League, 1928. Handbill. 1 sheet. 8 x 5 in. Old fold lines. Very Good. Small was the Republican candidate and elected as governor of Illinois in 1920 and 1924. He lost the Republican primary in 1928. He ran again unsuccessfully in 1932 and 1936. Small was indicted for embezzlement and acquitted by a jury whose members went on to state jobs. He issued pardons to criminals, communists, and bootleggers while in office.
