About This Item
[Richmon, 1828. 8pp. Loose gathering, previously stitched. Slight chipping at edges, tanning. Good plus. Untrimmed. An unrecorded printing of a short tract defending John Quincy Adams from criticisms by supporters of Andrew Jackson in Virginia in the run-up to the presidential election of 1828. The pamphlet was published for distribution by pro-Adams Virginians, met at a convention in Richmond in 1828 intended to rally support for Adams and stoke anti- Jackson sentiments. The address portrays Adams as a steady, experienced hand and Jackson as an unpredictable danger to democracy.
