New York: Horizon Press, 1957. First Edition / First Printing. Cloth. Near fine/very good. First edition of Voice of Israel by Abba Eban, dedicated to Senator J. Lister Hill.. Octavo, 304pp. Blue boards over maroon cloth spine, silver title on spine. Publisher's dust jacket, $3.95 on front flap, light toning to spine, some chipping at edges. Illustrated maps on end papers. Inscribed by Israeli Diplomat and politician, Abba Eban: "To Senator Lister Hill, in friendship. Abba Eban." Senator Lister Hill (1894 - 1984) served in the United States Senate for 40 years, representing the state of Alabama. He was Senate Majority Whip from 1941-1947. He was an advocate for rural development and healthcare for poor Americans, but often voted against Civil Rights legislation. He was a signatory of the Southern Manifesto, condemning the Brown vs. Board of Education decision by the Supreme Court.
