Tuscaloosa, AL: Confederate Publishing Company Inc. , 1962. First edition thus. Trade Paperback Original. Very Good. Octavo (standard size). Slight wear to edges and corners of covers. Back cover has a couple scuffs. Generic bookplate with Confederate flag and cannon on endpaper. 126 p. w/ small number of illustrations, bibliography, index. A report to the French Court from a Frenchman acting as an agent for medical supplies for the Confederacy. He later served as a military physician in the Franco-Prussian war of 1871. He includes in his report a quick note abotuthe attack of the 54th MA Volunteer Infantry on Fort Wagener, ungenerously and erroneously stating they were driven forward by the bayonets of Federal Troops behind them. Girard was in Charleston at the time, but heard of the attack only second hand.
