New York: Doubleday, Doran & Company, 1937. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Two Volumes 4to., xviii(3)326pp.; 337pp.(cumulative to p.663). Solid First Edition, #712 of an unknown limitation. Bound in full navy leather with spine titles in gilt and decorative armorial shield in gilt on front boards. Top edge gilt. Square, tight and clean text throughout. Off-setting to end-papers and paste-downs. Rubbing to edges, hinges and tips and particularly heavy to spine ends. Bookplate of Ansel and Effie Verity on front paste-downs. Lacking slipcase. Signed by the author on the ffep of volume one. Not perfect but a collectable set at a great price.
