A fascinating topographical work on Suffolk, Norfolk, and Northamptonshire, illustrative of the works of Robert Bloomfield, with a memoir of the poet's life. The first edition of the work.With an engraved title page and fourteen copper engraved plates. Half title present. Collated complete. Engravings by John Greig and James Storer.Written by Edward Wedlake Brayley, an English historian and topographer, known as one of the co-editors of The Beauties of England and Wales. This work offers a memoir of British working class poet, Robert Bloomfield, who wrote extensively of his home county of Suffolk and the surrounding areas. Brayley describes the various areas, including Sapiston, Whittlebury Forest and Shooter's Hill, to name a few, with many accompanying engravings.Containing a previous owner's ink signature to the front free-endpaper. In contemporary half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, some shelf wear to the boards and rubbing and bumping to the extremities.
