New York: Poetry On Films, Inc, 1969. First Edition. Paperback. Frustrated over his inability to gain entrance to the New York Film Festival, Warhol started inter/View, which began its life as a film magazine under the direction of Gerard Malanga. John Wilcock, who published the avant-garde paper Other Scenes, agreed to provide typesetting, layout, and editorial advice for the first few issues, resulting in the aesthetic being more of an underground newspaper than a magazine. The paper promoted Warhol's own productions, and proved quickly to be an effective tool to attract the attention of players in the film world that Warhol and Paul Morrisey wanted to meet (see: Mulroney, Lucy. Andy Warhol, Publisher (2018), pp.93-100). Contents include interviews with Michael Sarne, George Cukor, Mark Frechette, Taylor Mead, Agnes Varda, Susan Sontag, Roman Polanski, and others, with coverage of Mick Jagger in performance. An attractive pair of issues. Two tabloid issues (42cm); photo-illustrated newsprint wrappers; [28]pp per issue; illus. Mild toning to wrapper extremities on No.1, else very Near Fine and unfolded; No.2 shows light toning and wear to extremities, with a few closed tears along the edges of the front wrapper; an unfolded, Very Good+ example.
