Paris: Baudouin Frères, 1825. Hardcover. Very Good. Title continued: "Précis historique inédit des événements de la soirée du 9 Thermidor an II, par C.A. Méda, Gendarme, Chargé de Réduire la Commune de Paris et les conventionnels insurgés; avec une notice sur la vie de l'auteur, mort géneral de brigade et Baron." [4], 394 p.; 21 cm. Contemporary full polished Spanish calf with six spine compartments between raised bands. Red and green morocco spine labels in second and third compartments with gilt-tooled series title in one and the names of the authors, Desmoulins, Vilate, and Méda, in the other. "Paris 1825" is gilt-tooled at tail of spine. Remainder of spine is densely gilt-tooled. Gilt rule border on each board. Board edges are gilt-tooled; turn-ins are blind-tooled. All page edges red. Part of the series Collection des Mémoires Relativs a la Révolution Française. Front fixed endpaper bears armorial bookplate with the name Alington and the motto: En Dieu est tout. In addition to Desmoulins' Le Vieux Cordelier, this volume contains Causes Secrètes de la Journée by Joachim Vilate (which includes Interrogatoire de Catherine Théot, se Disant Mére de Dieu) and Précis Historique des Événements by C.A. Méda. In Very Good Condition: slight loss of leather at ends of spine; edges rubbed; front joint starting, but hinges are solid; occasional light foxing; otherwise pages are clean and tight.
