Like 'The Leopard' (also translated by Colquhoun) it is set in Sicily just before its liberation from the Bourbons by Garibaldi. Translated from the Italian and with an Introduction by Archibald Colquhoun. With drawings by James Boswell who also designed the dustwrapper. With a former owner's armorial bookplate to the front paste-down. Small residue to the free endpapers from long removed newspaper reviews, otherwise a clean bright copy in an unclipped dustwrapper with attractive wraparound artwork, now with a slightly dull spine with a small nick and a tear to the foot
