Paris: Antoine Auguste Renouard (printed for), 1800. 4" wide by 6.75" tall. A pretty little copy of this uncommon edition, published in the year 1800 (the final year of the 18th century). Condition is excellent (i.e. Very Good++). Hinges are perfectly sound. Pages are crisp and clean but for some light scattered foxing. Bound in green marbled paper-covered boards, backed in brown leather with 5 raised bands. The leather is well preserved. Gilt lettering on the spine is still bright and shiny. Brown marbled endpapers. The binding is old, probably 19th century. Illustrated with 6 handsome, full page engravings. Printed by Crapelet. Pages [5] - 17 contain a LIFE OF DR. GOLDSMITH. Page [282] has VERSES ON GOLDSMITH, by David Garrick. There is no copy of this edition in the Elkins collection (i.e. OLIVER GOLDSMITH BIBLIOGRAPHICALLY AND BIOGRAPHICALLY CONSIDERED by Temple Scott). . 18th century edition. Hardcover. Very Good++ condition. 286pp.
