With a portrait of the author, 40 large photographs of miscrosopes and 5 other illustrations. ¶ This is a study about the magnifying and resolving power of non-achromatic simple and compound microscopes of the 18th and early 19th century in the collection of the Henri Van Heurck Museum. A valuable supplement to author's "Illustrated Catalogue of the Historical Microscopes" (1966). Text in Dutch, French, German and English.--(Front & end-paper browned).
