MOIRA LISTER, was born in Cape Town and made her stage debut there at the age of six. Since settling in England during the war, she has acted all over the world: she has been Bob Hope's leading lady and has appeared with John Gielgud in the controversial 1955 Lear, designed by Isamu Noguchi. She has played Juliet, Desdemona, Olivia and Kate Hardcastle, and co-starred with Peter Ustinov,, Rex Harrison, Tyrone Power, Noel Coward, Yul Brynner and Derek Nimmo. She has been the inspiration of her own television comedy series, The Very Merry Widow. The Very Merry Moira is the story of this glittering and marvellously versatile career, but because it is Moira Lister's own story it is a charming and light-hearted confession of the life and opinions, the interests and aspirations of the wife, the mother, the artist-the dazzling public personality and the real woman behind the publicity.
