London; Macmillan and Co. Ltd., 1968., 1968. Hard Cover. FIRST EDITION. Landscape octavo, pp. [32]. 13 full page illustrations by Edward Gorey, plus pictorial endpapers and 2 vignettes. Publishers' purple cloth with silver titles to spine, in price clipped pictorial dust-jacket also by Gorey. Board edges are very lightly sunned. Light creasing to dustjacket with 2 cm closed tear to spine head and light wear to edges. Light foxing to verso of dustjacket. Near Fine book in Very Good jacket. First Edition of Spark's first children's book, illustrated in characteristic gothic style by Edward St. John Gorey.
