FIRST UK EDITION 1959, INSCRIBED IN INK ON THE FRONT ENDPAPER: "To Charlie Maurice Sendak October 84", small 4to, 205 x 180 mm, 8 x 6 inches, green imitation cloth spine, colour illustrated pink boards, 52 pages. A truly delightful story about a little boy who with his friends cat, sparrow and horse dreams of 'very far away'. 22 full page illustrations with pale orange tints facing the simple text. No previous owner inscription, a Fine clean crisp copy in very good DUSTWRAPPER (dw: not price clipped, very slightly dusty-looking, spine slightly yellowed, three 10 mm (½") closed edge tears, lower fold slightly rubbed). First published in the US by Harper & Brothers in 1957 (Hanrahan A28). Both UK and US firsts in dustwrapper are uncommon.
