Blk leather spines a little worn, quite fragile; small splits at top of spine of volume 2, external joints slightly worn, but binding intact; gilt titling + decoration still quite bright. B/w frontispieces, with tissue guards. B/w + colour large fold-out maps at rear of each volume - several have splits of a few inches, so should be handled carefully, but there are no losses, and all are firmly anchored. Swedish text. The Vega was the the first ship to complete a voyage through the Northeast Passage; returning by way of the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Suez Canal, she also became the first vessel to circumnavigate the Eurasian continent (1878-9).; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 510 + 486 pages .
