About This Item
Dublin: W.B. Kelly, 1869. Kelly's book was popular enough to have a second edition in 1874, but he remains a rather opaque figure. Although this title is held by all maor academic libraries in the British Isles and the Library of congress, it is scarce in the trade and absent from WorldCat. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the First Edition. Attractively bound in green cloth, ruled, and stamped with vines of shamrocks. Titling in gilt and copper on the front cover, with a facsimile author signature; gilt titling on the spine. Clean text; xvii, 446 pages, indexed; eight-page publisher's adverts in the rear. Frontis chromolithograph, and three others within. Fold-out map of "Environs of Dublin including the County of Wicklow," complete but torn. The general condition is less than desired. There is spotting to the endpapers, title page, and occasionally within. The spine has darkened and there is an ink plash to the front cover. The front hinge has cracked and the binding is loose. Please note the ondition issues. Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy, in need of restoration or repair.. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good (Minus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
