William Warren ("Bill") Bradley (b 1943) is an American politician and former professional basketball player He was a star basketball player while at Princeton, taking his team to a 3rd place finish in the 1965 NCAA tournament, Awarded a Rhodes Scholarship, he then studied at Oxford for two years before starting his NBA career He play for 11 seasons with the New York Knicks, winning championships in 1970 and 1973
He retired from basketball in 1977 and ran for and won the US Senate seat from New Jersey in 1978 He served three terms as a Democratic US senator from New Jersey (1979â€"1997) He ran for the Democratic Party's nomination for president in the 2000 election, which he lost to Vice President Al Gore

Bill Bradley was a three-time basketball all-American at Princeton, Olympic gold medalist, Rhodes scholar, member of the New York Knicks from 1967 to 1977, and two-time NBA champion; he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982. He served as United States senator from New Jersey from 1979 to 1997. Since leaving the Senate, he has been affiliated with Stanford University, University of Maryland, and Notre Dame. Mr. Bradley is the author of Life on the Run , The Fair Tax , and Time Present, Time Past . He is married and has one daughter and lives in Montclair, New Jersey.
