First published 1841-1870 as the Manual of the Corporation of the City of New York, commonly known as Valentine's Manual, this is one of the New Series revived by editor Henry Collins Brown, published 1916-1928. Each book is full of vintage photos, prints, maps, engravings, & colored lithographs & contains fascinating statistics & vignettes about the city, its buildings, residences, & colorful local personalities. Offered here is the 1918-1919 book (Vol. 3), which contains a frontispiece + 59 illustrations. Hardcover 12mo is bound in deep blue cloth stamped with a gilt design of a ship to front cover inside a gilt border, lettered in gilt to spine, gilt to top page edges. 378 pp, including Index. Condition is Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white with light tanning around all edges. Internal illustrations & 3 foldout cityscapes (1 an engraving, 2 color lithos) are virtually flawless, with crisp colors & white margins.
