About This Item

London, England: Michael Joseph, 1968. First British Edition . Hardcover. VG-/Fair. Compilation of articles on gardening written by Vita Sackville-West for "The Observer,'' 1947-1961, which were later collected in 4 books, now long out of print. This collection brings back the best of these, in 250 pages with Index + a color frontispiece & 22 additional color plates throughout text. It is the true (British) FIRST EDITION, Second Impression, from Nov. 1968 (see our listing #020502 for the First American Edition). Hardcover book has teal cloth-covered boards with black design & silver lettering to spine. Condition is VG- (minus): generally very clean, with scattered spots & smudges & dust dulling to outside page edges. Binding straight & strong, hinges secure. Pages creamy white with light tanning to edges; heavier to endpapers. NO writing, underlining, or highlighting; not ex-lib. Modest rubbing to extremities & bumped corners are only other flaws. The unclipped DJ (with orig. 35 s. net price intact at lower front flap) is barely good, downgraded due to staining to spine & back cover, chipping & creasing along top edge, rubbing to extremities; front cover is bright & colorful; looks nice protected in new mylar cover Free! Please see our 5 photos--they show the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have on hand! Description & photos property of Gargoyle Books.
