INSCRIBED by the author on the front free-endpaper in the year of publication. Walter Duranty was a British-American journalist who served as the Moscow bureau chief for "The New York Times" from 1922 to 1936 and wrote extensively about the country and its political developments. Duranty received a Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the Soviet Union but was later widely criticized for presenting a distorted and overly favorable view of the regime-especially in his denial of the widespread famine (1930-1933) in the USSR, particularly the Holodomor. Uncommon signed. 8vo, cloth. PLEASE NOTE that all our First Editions are also First Printings, unless we specifically note otherwise. All our dust jackets are protected in clear mylar covers.
