SIGNED and inscribed by George Moore on half-title page to J(ames) L(ouis) Garvin, long-time editor of the Observer. First Thus Edition. xiii, 316 pages plus publisherâs 16pp. catalogue bound in at rear; cloth boards, with embossed designs on front and publisherâs monogram on back cover, embossed lettered gilt on spine. An extensively altered and revised edition of the first 1903 printing which contained thirteen stories (this edition drops two of the original stories, and adds three new ones, including a long Preface in which Moore suggests that this book was an influence upon Synge in writing âThe Playboy of the Western Worldâ). Covers a bit soiled, gilt very dulled, slight tears to top of spine, some ownership stamping, a few pages stained, text-block overall age-toned, else good overall condition. NOT EX-LIBRARY.
