Southampton: Southampton: E. A. Hancock, St. Deny's Road, Portswood, 1840. Cloth Bound Boards. Fair/No Jacket. Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. Volume 1 of 2. Size 15½" x 11" Brown cloth covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. Volume 1 of 2 only, ends at Joel III. Brown cloth covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. Condition fair. The binding is very tatty, a couple of tears, staining, cracked hinges, wear to top and bottom of spine and corners, repaired tear to frontispiece, there is some foxing inside but this only affects the margins. With wonderful colour engravings. Not dated but the is some family history written on the front pastedown: William Pearce born October 29th 1835. Elizabeth Pearce born September 14th 1834. Mary Jane Pearce born February 28th 1858. Frank William Pearce born March 18th 1859. Charles Pearce born October 29th 1860. George Pearce born August 8th 1862. Elizabeth Ann Pearce born January 8th 1867. Angelina Pearce born August 21st 1871. Eliza Jane Pearce born June 26th 1872. Frederick Pearce born October 20th 1875. Henry Gurd born November 11th 1832. A large heavy volume. A good copy for a rebinding project.
