[Cartography] United States and Mexico. Constructed and Engraved by W. & A.K. Johnston. Edinburgh and London: W. & A.K. Johnston, Engravers and Printers to the Queen. [Circa 1892-1899]. Color map 106 x 124 cm on sheet 122 x 130 cm. Canvas backed in maroon board covers. Very good.
OCLC shows no holdings for this map. The British Library has a smaller format version [63 x 105 cm] with the same title by this publisher they date 1902. Rare Book Hub shows no auction or catalog records for this item. Impressive large-scale folding map of the United States and Mexico, issued by preeminent British map publishers W. & A.K. Johnston. Scale, 1: 4,180,000 ... or 66 miles to an inch. Shows the Dakotas as states, so post 1889. Shows Oklahoma during the short-lived period where it was divided into two Territories, Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory. The Oklahoma Panhandle shown as part of Oklahoma Territory so probably post 1891. Inset of Alaska Territory but not Hawaii, which became a territory in 1900.Reviews
