A rare first edition of John Jenkins'book, 'Voyage of the U.S. Exploring Squadron.'This work is a condensed voyage anthology, covering the United States Exploring Expeditions, the discoveries of Dumont d'Urville and Captain Ross, and an account of the expedition to the Dead Sea under Lieutenant Lynch. The book focuses on the Wilkes Lynch Expeditions which were important for American Oceanography. Jenkins divided the work into two parts the first being the Pacific and South Seas expeditions with the second part describing Lynch's expedition to the Dead Sea and the River Jordan.
