Description:
New York: The Viking Press, 1949. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. [8], ix-x, [4], 3-242, [2] pp. Beige cloth with orange lettering and decorations on the front board and spine; orange topstain. Price of $2.75 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Clayton Fountain was a multiracial American who worked in the Detroit automobile industry and was a member of the UAW-CIO. This is his story of joining the automobile industry, and how he fought to expurgate those with communist political beliefs from his union. Later in his career he took to doing PR for UAW-CIO, this book being an example of his work. A fascinating pro-union piece, written at a time when unions had more political clout in American society. A small spot of foxing to the rear free endpaper; jacket has mild sunning to the spine panel and a bit of foxing.
