Weston, CT: Living Hand, 1974. Stiff Wrapper. Good. Inscribed "in friendship" to Joachim Neugroschel, whose translation of Celan's "Todesfuge" forms the centerpice of Auster's essay on the poet. Covers worn, toned, corners bumped. The true first of Auster's first book, not since reprinted, with the correction in the author's hand: "/into" for "to" in "speak in you," an apt echo of Celan in a poem (Ice--means nothing) clearly indebted to the poet, presumably encountered in Neugroschel's marvelous collection, Speech-Grille (1971),
