About This Item
Uncle Remus, His Songs and His Sayings, the Folk-Lore of the Old Plantation. by Joel Chandler Harris, with Illustrations by Frederick S Church and James H Moser. New York: D Appleton and Company, 1 3 and 5 Bond Street. 1882 Early Edition.
This is a very early edition of Harris' first book. The charm and joy of these traditional African American songs creates a folk lore history to be studied and enjoyed by old and young. Joel Chandler Harris used a dialect spoken by unschooled southern black slaves in the 19th century, which can be controversial among some readers. Historically, his stories, sayings, and characters remain of interest.
Condition: Condition of this all-original early edition of this folklore classic is very good. The brown cloth-covered boards with the impressed and gilt spine and patterned end pages are still sound. Only slight wear, with no crayon, writing, crimps or stamps found within. This is NOT a library book! Please review photos and ask for more if necessary to make your best buying decision!
