This is a collection of two antique newspapers associated with the death of ULYSSES S. GRANT. Both issues contain numerous illustrations including the funeral ceremony, funeral train, death mask, Civil War scenes, Grant's tomb, etc.

Included are:
* Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper - "The Nation Mourns" from August 8, 1885.
* Harper's Weekly - "Grant Memorial Issue" from May 1, 1897.

Condition:
FRANK LESLIE'S - foxing to the pages; some of the pages have staining at a lower-outer corner; tears along the perimeter of the sheet, and at some of the crease/fold lines...overall the issue is in Fair condition. HARPER'S WEEKLY - the first 4 and the last 4 pages are detached; about 3/4 of the pages have dampstaining at the outer edge; the front cover has a couple small tears at the top and right-hand edges; the last 3 pages have a 4" horizontal tear at the inner edge...overall the issue is in Poor condition.

1860. Photograph "Gen. U.S. Grant and Family at Mount McGregor, N.Y.", the only photo of his complete family ever taken, made 35 days before the General's death, photographed by John G. Gilman, June 19, 1885; cabinet card ca. 1860, a handsome General Grant wearing his general's uniform (crack in top of card slt. into image); funeral ephemera including: Grant Memorial Parade, Souvenir Program, New York, April 27, 1897, 16pp, original printed wrappers; and photographic items related to his funeral, albumen prints 5.5 x 3.5" mounted on card with captions- Gen.
