London, 1895. First Edition. Hard Cover. (London/Philadelphia, New York Chicago: Dean and Sons nd [1895]). First Edition. 64 pages. Numerous illustrations in the body of the text. Publisher's red decorative binding featuring young ladies flying about on bats rendered in black and grey ans lettered in gilt. Black lettering to the spine. All edges gilt. Decorative end-papers. Very scarce children's book published mid 1890's by Dean and Son before Scarlet Pimpernel's appearance. A VG+ copy (slightly rubbed/soiled). Boards bright and clean. Clean interior. Tightly bound. NO hand-colouring of any of the plates. A very pleasing copy, nothing fundamentally wrong with it. An early fantasy tale illustrated by Baroness Orczy and her husband Montagu Barstow.
