Author was the United States Coast Guard Historian when he wrote this book and it is based on primary sources that are no longer available. During WWII the scope of the Coast Guard widened dramatically, new duties included participating in amphibious landings in the Pacific and hunting submarines in the Atlantic. Profusely illustrated, this book gives the reader details on every type of vessel used by the Coast Guard during the war. Book covers clean. Very minor foxing to top page edges. No previous owner marks. Text, photographs, diagrams and charts all clean and bright. Dust Jacket clean with a few light scratches to front and back covers. Both ends of DJ spine gently bumped. Top DJ corners gently rubbed. DJ front cover has a half inch tear from top edge near spine. DJ back cover has quarter inch tear on top edge. DJ top edges have minor shelf wear. Ships same or next business day well protected in a box. Please note this is an oversize and heavy book. Expedited/Priority orders may require extra shipping charges.
